G-EDM

Electrical discharge machining for your Hobbyshop
In electrical discharge machining (EDM), material is removed from the workpiece through a series of small electrical discharges. This process allows for the machining of various metals such as aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, even without the use of a metalworking center.
Wire and sinker EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) is a manufacturing process that has so far been primarily reserved for industrial use, and it's time for a change. The lack of suitable software to control the process is one of the main reasons why the hobbyist EDM market looks so disappointing. G-EDM offers not only hardware options but also provides a firmware equipped with several EDM-specific features, supporting both wire and sinker EDM processes.

G-EDM provides innovative hardware and software solutions for EDM machines, enabling a particularly cost-effective entry into electrical discharge machining. The platform combines a mature, field-proven foundation with high performance—making it ideal for demanding applications.
The proprietary control software currently offers a true unique selling point, as there is no comparable alternative in this segment. Continuously developed over many years, what began as an experimental project has evolved into a highly advanced and powerful firmware. It supports both sinker EDM and wire EDM, delivering reliability and precision.
A complete DIY build of the electronics and mechanics can be achieved from around €1,500, with potential for further cost savings depending on sourcing and component choices. The required PCBs are available for approximately €200–300. This outstanding price-performance ratio makes G-EDM one of the most attractive options for EDM enthusiasts, delivering results that stand up well against significantly more expensive systems.
The in-house EVO Router stands out with its robust construction and high durability. The proven high-gantry concept has demonstrated reliability and stability in daily use. At the same time, its low design complexity enables a straightforward and efficient build.

G-EDM combines hardware with software and remains open to modifications and individual approaches.
The software supports not only XYZ routers but also XYUVZ machines. Even when a specially designed router with cable management is provided for the DIY community, using existing hardware is often possible without any issues.
